Vanderpump Rules: Why Ariana Madix Had No Plans To Marry Tom Sandoval
In March 2023, Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval ended their 9-year relationship, per Us Weekly. "Vanderpump Rules" co-star Raquel Leviss was in the middle of it all, as she reportedly had a months-long affair with Sandoval. The drama went down at Sandoval's band's performance, as Madix found an explicit video and texts between Sandoval and Leviss, according to People. Unsurprisingly, Madix was heartbroken. A source told the outlet, "This is someone she thought she knew; someone she planned to spend the rest of her life with. You can't even put into words that betrayal."
On March 8, Sandoval took to Instagram to make a statement about his role in the split. He wrote, in part, "Most of all, I want to apologize to Ariana. I made mistakes, I was selfish, and made reckless decisions that hurt somebody I love." He owned up to his faults, explaining that he didn't treat Madix the way she deserved.
Leading up to their split, Sandoval and Madix were open about various aspects of their relationship. In fact, Madix revealed on multiple occasions that she was never interested in saying "I do."
Ariana Madix doesn't think weddings are necessary
In November 2018, Tom Sandoval told Us Weekly that he and Ariana Madix would "probably never" get married. Madix added, "It's not on the agenda for us." The "Vanderpump Rules" star expressed her desire to pursue other endeavors, such as becoming an entrepreneur, traveling, and going to outer space. While marriage wasn't in the cards for the couple, Sandoval talked about their interest in buying a house together. "To me, we'd rather put our money in that investment than, to us, marriage or a wedding and all that, an expensive ring." Madix noted, "People spend so much money on weddings, it's kind of crazy."
In July 2022, Madix shared another reason why she wouldn't be getting married. She told Us Weekly, "I think every couple is different because I have friends and family [where] they've been married for a while and it's like, it's really working." But, for her, a fancy wedding doesn't mean much. "And honestly, I just think that if you're gonna be together, you're gonna be together forever," she added. "It doesn't really matter if you have the wedding or not." While plans can change, Madix stuck to her guns about tying the knot. In a 2021 "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" appearance, she explained how she's not into the "fanfare" of weddings and bachelorette parties.
Inside Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval's living situation
Although Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval didn't get married, she and her then-boyfriend eventually took a big step in their relationship. In February 2019, they bought their first house together, per People. In May, they shared details about their $2 million home to Bravo, revealing that they drew inspiration for the home from their own personalities. However, that wasn't always so simple, as they would sometimes disagree on design components. Madix remarked, "We definitely had moments where one of us is really adamant about something, and the other one is not really feeling it. You compromise on those moments."
Following their messy breakup, a rep for Sandoval told People that the couple is "still living together." They said, "They own the house together, and what happens next with the property will take time to sort out. This isn't something that's going to be decided in a weekend." According to Us Weekly, Madix had the support of her "Vanderpump Rules" co-stars Scheana Shay, Kristen Doute, and Katie Maloney amid the split as they showed up with wine and flowers at her house.
